This two-door convertible features a charming styling that has become an icon of British motoring. It features stunning British Racing Green exterior paint that is complemented by an exceptionally clean Honey Tan Leather interior; all of which is sure to turn heads! Powered by a 2912 CC engine that is mated with a manual transmission that offers an impressive 150 horsepower. Your only challenge will be finding the proper venue to display this convertible dashing good looks! Austin Healey was a British sports car maker established in 1952 through a joint venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company (Healey), a renowned automotive engineering and design firm. The Austin Healey was extensively raced by the Donald Healey Motor Company in Europe at Le Mans and at Sebring in the U.S., in classic rallies by the BMC Competitions department, and was recognized from the very beginning by the Sport Car Club of America (SCCA). Healey models raced in cub racing in D,E,F,G, an H production classes, winning National Championships in all five classes. The Last Big Healey to win an SCCA National Championship was the class E Production Austin-Healey 100-6 driven by Alan Barker at the Daytona ARRC in 1965. This 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MK III is a fine example of the Austin Healey name plate. It runs and drives great. Very few of these automobile icons are still on the road. Fewer still are the number of road-worthy units in such fantastic condition as this one! This is one heck of a car. This Austin-Healey has a paint job that is spectacular. This unique and meticulous restoration began with a jig welded Kilmartin Automotive Sheetmetal (KAS) chassis/frame directly imported from Australia. Every restoration needs a strong foundation! Original Austin Healey frames/chassis tend to rust from the inside out and to determine the structural soundness is costly and time consuming. KAS engineers not only improved the design of the stock frame but also the production techniques creates a far superior and stronger chassis. For example, the KAS chassis allows for tighter turning which is a delightful characteristic for the racetrack/hairpin turns and over all handling. Highly skilled metal craftsman refurbished body panels that exceeded original quality and contour. Original inner body panels that were not salvageable were replaced with KAS reproductions and conscientiously fitted including the floorboards and door sills. The door skins were kept steel to maintain structural strength and integrity. Mechanical parts including the engine rebuild were NOS sourced or the best reproductions available were used. The restoration's exceptional fit and paint was done by Midwest Rod and Custom, Lake Park, MN. The paint is base/clear version of the original ‘British Racing Green.’ Final mechanics, detailing and upholstery were done by Master Restorations, Minot ND. The transmission was rebuilt using NOS gears and synchros making smooth shifts with accurate 'feel good’ gates. Gauges were rebuilt/refurbished by a reputable technician. Final detailing includes chrome wire wheels and new tires that add to the overall WOW! factor. The interior is ‘honey tan’ leather from Moss Motors and new carpets, door panels, overdrive and soft top were also installed. This spectacular collector car exceeds show room quality and OEM specifications and will do nothing but climb in value for your dollar investment! This 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MK III Convertible has been very well maintained. This is a must see/drive to truly appreciate its classic authenticity and original look/luster.
