We are proud to present this extremely rare 1958 Facel Vega Excellence 1st series berline. As the last one from only 10 build this wonderful limousine comes with a rather special history. Sold by Bonhams a few years ago the car surfaced now out of Dutch collection. I take the freedom of using part of their description : “This ultra-rare Facel Vega excellence 1st series is made all the more desirable by virtue of its association with film star Ava Gardener , its first owner who took delivery directly from factory. The last of ten built , it was delivered in September ’58 when Ava would have been about to start work on the movie “ on the beach “ , co-starring with Gregory Peck. She had been signed by MGM studios in 1941 and would appear in numerous high profile movies from the 1950’s to the 1970’s, including “Mogambo” (1953 ) for which she was nominated for the academy award of best actress. Ava Gardner’s ownership is confirmed by the chassis records ( copy on file ) and there is also a photograph of her with the car on file. “ The condition of the vehicle right now is wonderfully original but generally good. The car shows no rust what so ever. The 6.4 V8 Hemi engine starts up on first crank and runs smooth. The Automatic gearbox performs well. All electrical systems are in full working order. The car was undoubtable painted once during its life since the it looks so good for its age. The chrome is good and the red leather interior shows some lovely patina.
